Background

The District Council of Grant's Community Grants Scheme is for community groups to develop projects and events that enhance community well-being and increase participation in social and leisure activities.

At the Ordinary Meeting on Monday 18 September 2023, Council endorsed an increase to the Community Grants Scheme funding pool to $80,000 (+$16,000). Additional amendments were endorsed based on feedback from the public in 2022, some include the addition of Community Participation as a new category for small groups, consolidating the Halls and Community Groups category and the Community Funding & Support budget be aligned to 2.0% of Council’s General Rates in future year’s budget setting.


Council staff are now excited to announce the re-launch of the program for 2023-2024.


Program objectives

  • Support the provision of programs and services which respond to a community need;
  • Contribute to the building of stronger communities;
  • To encourage partnerships with Council; and
  • To facilitate the effective use of community resources and encourage sustainability of services and programs.


Who can apply

Eligible applicants must be an incorporated not-for-profit organisation based in or servicing the District Council of Grant who do not collect substantial income from other sources (such as gate charges). Unincorporated not-for-profit organisations may apply if auspiced or sponsored by an incorporated organisation other than Council.

Applicants are encouraged to read the Round 1 2023-2024 Application Pack and Guidelines prior to applying. Other key information about the amended grants scheme can be found in the documents section which includes a copy of the Round 1 Fact Sheet and Community Funding & Support Policy.

Hard copy documentation is available at Council's Principal Office at 324 Commercial Street West, Mount Gambier. Council staff are also available at the Principal Office on (08) 8721 0444 and at info@dcgrant.sa.gov.au should applicants require assistance with the application process.

  1. Electronic submission via the 2023-2024 Application Form below
  2. Attachment of a completed 2023-2024 Application Form emailed to info@dcgrant.sa.gov.au
  3. Return hard copy 2023-2024 Application Form and supporting documentation to a Council office:
    • Principal Office at 324 Commercial Street West / PO Box 724, Mount Gambier
    • Port MacDonnell Community Complex at 5-7 Charles Street, Port MacDonnell
