Background

Asset Management Plans assist Council in managing infrastructure and other assets across the district meeting an appropriate and sustainable service level. They detail the actions Council will take to develop, operate, maintain, upgrade and dispose of assets in the most cost-effective manner.

Asset Management Plans are a key component of the Council’s strategic planning documents as outlined in Section 122 of the Local Government Act 1999. They are designed to align with Council's strategic goals and contribute to informing the Annual Business Plan and Budget planning process, Long-Term Financial Plan, strategic plans, work programming, asset valuations and depreciation projections, and ongoing analysis, monitoring and evaluation.

Each Asset Management Plan focuses on a specific type of assets and infrastructure:

  • Transport: Transport networks including roads, kerb and gutter, footpaths and carparks
  • Plant and Fleet: Comprises commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, heavy vehicles, heavy plant, light plant and trailers

Asset Management Plans go on to inform the annual budgeting and planning, strategic plans, work programming, asset valuations and depreciation projections, and ongoing analysis, monitoring and evaluation.
