Background

The District Council of Grant's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020 – 2024 sets the roadmap to achieve our vision to be a fully inclusive society that values and respects all people as equal and contributing members of the community. A key action detailed within the Plan was to establish a Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel to advise, monitor, evaluate and review Council’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and make recommendations as appropriate. Council formed the Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel (AIAP) in 2022.

The AIAP recommended that Council host an art exhibition at The Hangar Gallery, Mount Gambier Regional Airport in celebration of International Day of People with Disability. The day is celebrated annually on 3 December raising awareness of people with disability and promotes the equitable inclusion of people with disability in all aspects of life. Council subsequently approved this recommendation in March 2025.
