Local Heritage Survey Project Stage 2 Update
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Monday 17 February 2025, an update on the Local Heritage Survey Project was presented as such:
Council commenced a four-stage local heritage project in April 2023, the stages are described as follows:
- Stage 1 - Thematic Heritage Framework Study (completed)
- Stage 2 - Council wide local historic site identification survey and listing recommendations (commenced late 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in October 2025)
- Stage 3 - Detailed assessment of recommended Local Heritage sites (late 2025/26)
- Stage 4 - Code Amendment to formally list identified Local Heritage sites (2026/27)
Council adopted the Thematic Heritage Framework Study on 16 December 2024, for use in Stages 2 to 4 of the Heritage Project.
Stage 2 of the Heritage Project is progressing well and at the halfway mark, 116 site inspections (surveys) have been undertaken across Areas 1 and 2.
