Consultation has concluded

The District Council of Grant are very pleased with the announcement on 24 November 2019 by the Minister for Agriculture, Food & Fisheries and Regional Development, the Hon Tim Whetstone, MP, of funding of $385,000 from the State Government’s Regional Growth Fund towards a co-funded $770,000 project for the Mount Gambier and District Saleyards.


Outputs are:

  • Two new state of the art adjustable cattle ramps with both rear and side loading options
  • The installation of two proprietary landing platforms
  • Reconfiguration of cattle holding pens adjacent to new ramps
  • Civil works to upgrade heavy vehicle access to ramps
  • Construction and electrical works associated with the new ramps
  • Lighting and security in new ramps area

In addition to the jobs created during the construction phase the project will help secure ongoing jobs in this important industry which contributes significantly to the State’s economy.

The project is expected to commence in the first half of next year and be completed by the end of 2021.
