Mount Gambier Regional Airport
Mount Gambier Regional Airport Redevelopment Project - A Federal, State and Local Government Initiative
Planning and development for this project has been undertaken in collaboration with various government agencies and in consultation with business and industry over many years. A redeveloped airport for the Limestone Coast Region is therefore well recognised and supported. Planning, concept design, civil works and building activities for both airside and landside projects are planned to be completed by December 2020.
The Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund is supporting the Mount Gambier Regional Airport Upgrade with a grant of $3.51M.

Council has awarded a $239,500 contract to Ashley Halliday Architects for the design of the airport terminal. Four consultants were invited to submit tenders, and Ashley Halliday represented the best option for Council. They have experience in the Kangaroo Island Terminal, which was one of 12 finalists in the World Architecture Festival transport Award.

Construction has commenced on the $9.2M Mount Gambier Regional Airport Upgrade project with Heenan Earthworks, the lead contractor for the runway and heavy apron beginning on site.

The $9.2M Mount Gambier Regional Airport project will now proceed after a $3.5M funding announcement from the Building Better Regions Fund Round 2. Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government, the Hon Dr John McVeigh, MP, travelled to Mount Gambier to make the announcement with District Council of Grant Mayor Richard Sage, City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee and Member for Barker, Mr Tony Pasin, MP.
