The District Council of Grant have identified that some existing playground infrastructure within the area requires attention and Council are being proactive to repair, maintain and/or replace this equipment.
Playground upgrades have been included in Council’s major project works program for the 2022/2023 financial year, following the receival of Federal Government funding from Phase 3 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
The following locations are included in the project works package and will have works carried out to bring the existing playgrounds up to date/compliant with the Australian Standards:
Blackfellows Caves
Carpenter Rocks
Donovans
Kongorong
Mount Schank
Nene Valley
Port MacDonnell
Tarpeena
Yahl
Due to the significant works involved, Council will be seeking feedback from the community,in a staged engagement approach, to determine what equipment options will be best suited for those that require significant replacements.
Additional feedback is welcome for future improvements to the playground, however this feedback will be considered by Council in future budgets.
Residents and visitors of the Kongorong, Tarpeena and Yahl playgrounds are being asked to vote on their preferred playground equipment designs and colours for all playground sites.
Community members, visitors and regular users of the playgrounds are encouraged to review the playground options proposed and vote for your most preferred. A hard copy survey is available to download in the documents section or picked up at Council's Principal Office and Port MacDonnell Community Complex.
Community consultation will be open between Friday, 11 November and Thursday, 1 December 2022.
Survey submissions will be accepted via the following methods:
