Under grounding the power along Sea Parade Port MacDonnell was a key project identified in the Port MacDonnell Masterplan 2014.

The Masterplan is a guide for the future development of public spaces within the Port MacDonnell area and helps to ensure that available money can be spent in an efficient manner providing the greatest benefit for the community.

Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Waterfront Project have been successfully funded as a result of the Masterplan.

The community were overwhelmingly in support of the upgrade of town centre streets and support was particularly strong for the under-grounding of power lines in key streets to provide an improved experience for the many visitors to the township.

Stage 1 is of the PLEC Project is to underground power along a section of Sea Parade and Charles Street (to the Port MacDonnell Community Complex).

Co-funded between the District Council of Grant ($228, 028) and PLEC ($456,055) this project is valued at $684,083.

Works will commence in early March 2020 with initial civil works and forecast completion is mid-late May 2020.

This project will include the removal of overhead wires and and poles.
